In the summer of 2025, visitors will have the opportunity to discover a completely renovated tour route in the towers of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. This new route, developed under the direction of scenic agency Nathalie Crinière and in collaboration with C-Album (graphic design), RC Audiovisuel (audiovisual and multimedia engineering), Patrick Rimoux (lighting), SNOOP (model making), and Life design sonore (sound design), will take place in the opposite direction from the previous one, with entrance from the south tower. The route will provide access to new rooms, including two previously unseen halls, and involves climbing 422 steps.
The first room will introduce visitors to the history of the cathedral, illustrating the main stages of its construction and the most significant moments through the use of models that will help to better understand the structure of the building in its spaces. The second room will offer a novel perspective on the complex structure of the bell tower. In addition, a new staircase will allow visitors to approach the bell towers and experience the thrill of climbing along the tower. The south tower terrace will offer a spectacular view of Paris, enhanced by information panels that will guide visitors in reading the urban landscape, 69 meters above the ground.
The experience will be further enhanced by aninnovative sound component that will accompany the descent down the impressive spiral staircase, designed to make this moment less challenging for visitors. This evocative sound experience is intended to create an intimate bond between the public, the monument and its environment. To this end, the CMN has partnered with Noirlac Abbey to launch a call dedicated to the creation of a sound work.
