Viva la Danza and art in motion

“In this year’s edition of Viva la Danza,” said Roberto Bolle himself, “we managed to give a beautiful development to the concept of ’widespread dance’ that always accompanies my projects. In addition to this incredible evening in which we fused the art in movement par excellence with the sempiternal art of Caravaggio, we are also going to dance among monuments and the Teatro La Fenice in Venice and then to Verona. That of bringing Bigonzetti’s entire Caravaggio work to Italy was a dream I had been cherishing for a long time. I am happy to have finally succeeded, and I thank all those who helped me.”

In addition to Bolle, Teatro alla Scala Principal Dancer Timofej Andrjashenko and young art critic Jacopo Veneziani will also appear on the program, in a journey combining ballet and Italian cultural heritage.

Caravaggio, Bolle’s dream comes true.

Bringing Mauro Bigonzetti’s opera Caravaggio to Italy was a desire Bolle had nurtured for some time. The show, inspired by the life and works of the Lombard painter, will make its debut in Florence on May 9 thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture and Superintendent Carlo Fuortes, and will then land in Milan, offering audiences an immersive experience in which dance and art intertwine in a powerful and evocative tale.

Undersecretary of State for Culture Gianmarco Mazzi remarked in a press note, “Thanks to the commitment of great national cultural institutions, their directors, Roberto Bolle, Rai and the Ministry of Culture, we have managed to complete a beautiful and concrete work. Proving that when institutions and the arts come together, projects ignite and everyone can benefit.”
