Padua, city museums are free for all, citizens and tourists in June

To celebrate the June Anthonian, the City of Padua has established free admission to city museums for the entire month of June.

The City of Padua has decided to open the doors of its civic museums free of charge for the entire month of June: the initiative, aimed at everyone, citizens and tourists alike, is to celebrate the June Antoniano, from the 1st to the 30th of the month. The free opening covers the Civic Museums at the Eremitani, Palazzo della Ragione and Palazzo Zuckermann, home to the Bottacin Museum and the Museum of Applied Arts.

Excluded from the initiative are the Scrovegni Chapel and ticketed exhibitions. Padua’s museum system reopened on May 18, and the City Council is keen to point out that visits can be conducted safely: spaces and routes have been remodeled to avoid visitor flow crossings, gatherings and unwanted contact. The sanitation of the venues and the safety of the public are ensured, through appropriate devices and arrangements for access, which is done with the control and support of appropriately trained supervisory staff. The venues are open Tuesday through Sunday (closed Monday) from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with the exception of Palazzo Zuckermann, which is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“The history of St. Anthony,” says Culture Councilor Andrea Colasio, “since 1231, the year of his death, has been intertwined with that of Padua, contributing to the formation of the city’s identity. Spirituality has also been expressed in the beauty of our city’s artistic heritage, which we invite on this occasion to rediscover.”

The Anthonian June 2020 is organized by the City of Padua, Pontifical Basilica of the Saint, Province of St. Anthony of Padua Friars Minor Conventual, Diocese of Padua, Venerable Ark of St. Anthony, Messaggero di Sant’Antonio Editrice, Archconfraternity of St. Anthony, Center for Anthonian Studies, with the collaboration of Secular Franciscan Order of Padua, Corsia del Santo - Placido Cortese Association, Palio Arcella Association. The realization of the event is possible thanks to the contribution of Fondazione Cariparo (Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo) and Fondazione Antonveneta - Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena. The Antoniano 2020 June has the patronage of the Province of Padua, the Municipality of Camposampiero and the Municipality of Anguillara Veneta.
