The Ostia Antica Archaeological Park once again welcomes its visitors from June 2: everyone will be free to follow their own route in the largest and most well-preserved Roman city, staying within the area as long as they wish.
Access will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. (with last entry at 6 p.m. The large size of the Ostia excavations allows relatively free movement through the ancient city even for groups with guides. Special signage and an informational brochure, designed for the occasion, will be provided to help visitors remember safety measures, such as a ban on assembling and a one-meter interpersonal distance. The brochure will be distributed at the entrance or can be downloaded from the website www.ostiaantica.beniculturali.it.
Temperature will be measured at the entrance and there will be a requirement to wear a mask. Indoor and outdoor cafeteria service will also be open. Groups of up to 25 people plus guide with use of audio devices and up to 10 people plus guide if without devices are allowed.
Some smaller rooms or passages are interdicted, such as the belvederes and the Ostiense Museum. In other buildings, such as the Thermopolis of Diana’s House or the Theater with the Piazzale delle Corporazioni, one-way or alternating one-way tour routes have been set up, indicated by appropriate signage.
