The General Directorate for Contemporary Art and Architecture and Urban Peripheries of MiBAC has published online theAtlas of Italian Contemporary Architecture: a platform that focuses on an entire category of works built in Italy, including between the post-World War II period and the present. An open and implementable tool that allows the public to learn aboutmodern and contemporary Italian architecture through more than one hundred significant works of architecture.
The selection of works chosen were surveyed on the website Architectures of the Second 900, and there was a desire to represent each region of Italy, sometimes giving up major works to make room for interesting regional realities.
Thematic routes have been created that also include geographic contexts that are distant from each other but possess architectural works with similar characters: works that testify to the excellence of Italian architectural culture in the second half of the 20th century.
Alongside the general thematic paths, more circumscribed thematic paths have been created, often illustrated through the production of a single author: secondary access keys from which cross-readings, particular stories, can be derived. Finally, a cross-reading of works and themes is possible using the tags placed at the bottom of each card, which identify, for each work, the main authors, city, region and function.
Also present are maps that allow users a more accessible navigation; starting from these, users can build their own itinerary on a local basis.
