New owners of Portrait of Donna Franca Florio unveiled

Only a few days ago the names of the new owners of Giovanni Boldini's Portrait of Donna Franca Florio were revealed in Il Gattopardo magazine.

"Il Gattopardo" magazine revealed just a few days ago the identity of those who on April 30 purchased Giovanni Boldini ’s famous painting depicting the Portrait of Donna Franca Florio.

The owners of the canvas, purchased for 1.133 million euros, are Marquis Marida and Annibale Berlingieri.
But the good news is that therefore the painting, after the concerns of the Palermitans themselves, who had also devised a crowdfunding campaign, will not leave the city again: it will soon be displayed at Palazzo Mazzarino on Via Maqueda.

Palermo Mayor Leoluca Orlando said, “I am grateful to the Marchesi Berlingheri for this act of love and sensitivity for our city. To have allowed such an important work in the history of Palermo to remain in its city is an act of great generosity. Even more wonderful will be to be able to make it visible to most people in the very year that Palermo will be the Capital of Italian Culture.”

The work is still on display at the Reggia di Venaria, but it will soon return to its Palermo home.
