The rules for going to visit a museum or see a live show remain unchanged in the new Prime Minister’s Decree signed overnight: in the text, there are additional restrictions to slow the resumption of the Covid-19 contagion that has been going on for several weeks. For museums and live performances, however, everything remains as it was before: very wisely, it was considered, in all evidence, that already with the rules in place museums, theaters and concert halls are safe places.
Let’s see what the rules are in detail. Museums and places of culture can keep their doors open to the public provided that, the text of the dpcm reads, “they guarantee contingent modes of enjoyment or in any case such as to avoid assemblages of people and to allow visitors to respect the distance between them of at least one meter. The service is organized taking into account the protocols or guidelines adopted by the regions or the Conference of Autonomous Regions and Provinces. The administrations and managing entities of museums and other institutes and places of culture may identify specific organizational, prevention and protection measures, as well as worker protection, taking into account the characteristics of the places and the activities carried out.” Free Sundays are still suspended.
As for live performances (and cinemas), theaters, concert halls, cinemas and open-air spaces may open with pre-assigned and spaced seating and provided that interpersonal distance of at least one meter is ensured, both for staff and for non-cohabiting spectators. Maximum numbers: 1,000 spectators for outdoor performances, 200 for indoor performances, per single hall. Activities must take place in accordance with the contents of appropriate protocols or guidelines to prevent or reduce the risk of infection. The fact remains that regions and autonomous provinces can modify the maximum number of spectators in consideration of the size and characteristics of venues. Instead, the closure of discos, dance halls and similar outdoor and indoor venues remains.
The only change for the culture sector concerns guided tours for schoolchildren: they are suspended for the duration of the period covered by the dpcm (one month). Guides will therefore have to continue to do without student groups.
