The “Vittorio Emanuele III” National Library in Naples has a new director: in fact, Gabriele Capone has been appointed to lead the prestigious institution.
A Neapolitan with a degree in Literature and Philosophy and extensive experience in the library and archives profession and in the administration and communication of cultural heritage, Capone has been Archival and Bibliographic Superintendent of Campania since March 2019, and as of May 1, 2020, he has taken over as director of the Library, which is considered the third largest in Italy in terms of importance and richness of the heritage it holds.
The newly appointed director is already working on the reopening of the Library, with all the security regulations and containment measures provided for in the COVID-19 epidemiological emergency.
