Monterchi: new layout for museum housing the Madonna del Parto

On Feb. 24, the new layout of the Monterchi (Arezzo) museum will be inaugurated, after about a month of its closure. The audiovisual room in particular has been upgraded.

The Arezzo location is home to one of Piero della Francesca’s greatest masterpieces: the Madonna del Parto; in fact, the new tour is aimed at “increasing the relationship between Piero’s work and the territory of Monterchi, with which it has always boasted an unbreakable bond with numerous events in this regard.”

The intervention cost about 50,000 euros and was carried out by the municipality in agreement with the Superintendency.

The director of the Civic Museums of Monterchi, Lina Guadagni, said, “After the restoration and the related exhibition of the Cinquecentenario, this is the most important work carried out to make the place that houses the Madonna del Parto ever more welcoming and functional. A contribution to the understanding of the link between the masterpiece and the area is made by the new film, which provides many answers to visitors’ questions. I can only be pleased with the teamwork carried out.”

In fact, in September 2017 the museum was awarded the status of"Museum of Regional Interest" and won the Tuscany Region’s call for bids that enabled this project.
