Monet's works return to their places of origin


In 2019, two canvases that Monet painted between Dolceacqua and Bordighera will return to their places of origin during events dedicated to the famous painter.

Claude Monet ’s works that were painted among the Ligurian villages of Dolceacqua and Bordighera will return for display in their places of origin in 2019.

They are"Le Château de Dolceacqua" and"Vallée de Sasso," now housed at the Musée Marmottan Monet in Paris.

The two canvases will be exhibited as part of organized events dedicated to the father ofImpressionism in the halls of Villa Regina Margherita in Bordighera and the castle of Dolceacqua.

This was announced by the two respective mayors, “The project aims to create events around the figure of Claude Monet. It was Marmottan Museum deputy director Marianne Mathieu who proposed the return of the works to the places where they were painted, in 1884.”
