After the great public success of Mondolfo Galleria Senza Soffitto, during which a series of large-scale photos by the master of photography Mario Giacomelli and various street art interventions were permanently installed, the City of Mondolfo and the association PAM - Pro Arte Mondolfo present for Christmas 2020 ARS IN TENEBRIS LUCET - Art shines in the darkness.
Is it possible to remain without the excitement of Christmas? Or let the gray events make us even more blind and silent? Everywhere there is “darkness,” but in this social darkness that envelops our time, Light can still be kindled.
The staircase-piano with Mario Giacomelli’s photograph Non ho mani che mi accarezzino il volto will be clad in light: a luminous sculpture to guard it from above, composed of interwoven threads, reminding us that even our difficulties can be transformed into a great work of art. In the cloister of the St. Augustine Monumental Complex, the Nativity will be celebrated through an installation in which giant photographs of works by famous past and contemporary artists who have dedicated their art to this theme will be reproduced.
It will be a walk through the darkness, illuminated by the lights of the Nativity reproduced in giant size, by great artists such as Francesco di Giorgio Martini, Giotto, Andrea Mantegna, Carlo Crivelli, Cosmé Tura, Federico Barocci, Lorenzo Lotto, and Raphael Sanzio, up to the Transavantgarde, with Mimmo Paladino, Francesco Clemente and Felice Casorati.
The real lesson of Art lies precisely in the simplicity of its message, in that authentic transmission of values and freedom that no other human work can give.
With ARS IN TENEBRIS LUCET - Art shines in the darkness, the PAM - Pro Arte Mondolfo Association promotes this concept and for this Christmas proposes another open-air journey between art and beauty. Until February 2, 2021.
