Modigliani case: the seized paintings are all fakes

The Modigliani paintings that were seized last July are all fakes. Palazzo Ducale in Genoa claims to be a heavily injured party.

The Modigliani paintings displayed in March 2017 at the exhibition dedicated to the artist held in the exhibition spaces of the Palazzo Ducale in Genoa are all fakes: this is the result of the expert report filed in court by expert Isabella Quattrocchi.

The paintings, twenty-one to be precise, were seized in July after a complaint by collector and expert Carlo Pepi.
However, one of the seized drawings is allegedly original.

Three people, including curator Rudy Chiappini, are under investigation.
The Ducal Palace claims to be a"strongly injured party“ and added that ”if the expert opinions regarding the examination on the pigments confirm the negative judgment of the expert report filed, the Board of Directors of the Ducal Palace Foundation will decide what steps to take."
