On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, starting today, November 25, the Ministry of Culture is launching the awareness-raising campaign I am there, We are there 2023.
Promoted together with the Ministry of Culture’s Observatory for Gender Equality, the initiative aims to promote the numbers and tools against violence against women: the AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections Hotline 800.861.061, in case of suffered sexual violence, the YouPol App, to send reports to the State Police, the anti-violence and anti-stalking number 1522, the single European emergency number 112 and the Women’s Health and Protection Service.
The campaign includes three commercials, with protagonists from the worlds of film, entertainment, music and sports serving as testimonials. The following is the list of testimonials: Maria Pia Calzone, Eva Cela, Maria Grazia Cucinotta, Camilla Filippi, Diane Fleri, Bianca Guaccero, Michele La Ginestra, Milena Mancini, Paola Minaccioni, Gabriella Pession, Claudia Potenza, Emanuele Propizio, Carmine Recano, Elena Sofia Ricci, Lidia Vitale, Monica Ward, Caterina Balivo, Eleonora Daniele, Monica Leofreddi, Andrea Perroni, Savino Zaba, Valeria Altobelli, Caterina Banti, Daniele Garozzo, Antonella Palmisano, Jessica Rossi, Noemi and Gianluca Sciarpelletti.
The commercials will be aired in participating theaters from Nov. 25 to Dec. 3, including the Professional Days of Cinema in Sorrento. On Nov. 25 and 26, the spots, produced in collaboration with “La Casa Rossa,” “Alice in the City,” “Urban Vision” and Anec, will also be broadcast on Urban Vision screens in Rome and Milan. Finally, over the next few days, the videos will also be broadcast in state museums.
“Culture is a determining factor in raising the value of mutual respect, in affirming respect for women’s freedom as a fundamental principle of our society,” said Culture Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano. “It is a formidable antidote that can counter violence against women, which is why we have a duty to deploy all the communication tools at our disposal, especially cinema.”
“With this awareness campaign we want to tell women victims of violence not to feel alone and not to be afraid to ask for help, because from a difficult present you can get out with the support of institutions and the whole civil society. At the same time, this campaign is also an appeal to everyone to never turn away,” said Undersecretary for Culture with responsibility for cinema Lucia Borgonzoni.
