Following the appointment of the new secretary general of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, Giovanni Panebianco, the decree with the 2018-2020 three-year planning of public works of Mibac was also published. For 2018, 28,741,199.30 euros have been allocated: the figure is down from 2017, when allocated resources amounted to 37,334,747.00 euros. The distribution also changes: in particular, for 2018 more attention is given to libraries, the only sector that has seen an increase in funds (3,206,311 euros compared to 2,706,311 in 2017, and a share of the total that exceeds 11 percent, compared to 7 percent in 2017). On the other hand, the other sectors see their allocations drop: 6,008,985.94 for archaeology (it was 7,868,291.55 in 2017), 11,081,696.25 for the “fine arts and landscape” sector (16.306,991.57 in 2017), 6,262,396.19 for museum centers (7,514,046.88), 540,000 for institutes (1,112,630.00), 1,641,809.92 for archives (1,826,476.00).
The region with the highest number of planned interventions is Lazio (77 interventions), followed by Tuscany (37), Veneto (35), Calabria (30) andEmilia Romagna (23). Trentino closes the ranking (no interventions), followed by Sicily (2 interventions) and Molise (5 interventions). Among the interventions deemed most urgent are the restoration and securing of the mosaics of the Domus del Chirurgo in Rimini (30,000 euros), the conservative restoration of the archaeological area of Tres Tabernae in Cisterna di Latina (200.000), the setting up of the new archaeological restoration center at the Certosa del Galluzzo in Florence (€90,000), the securing of the Roman forum in Assisi (€30,000), the restoration and seismic improvement of the Cathedral of Viterbo (€300,000), the functional and plant engineering adaptation of the Palazzo della Pilotta in Parma (€196.108 euros), the completion of the restoration of the Baptistery of Parma (150,000), the securing and restoration of the walls of San Gimignano that collapsed last April (300,000), the completion of the restoration, consolidation and enhancement works of the walls of Castelfranco Veneto (200,000), the completion of the project of accessibility and overcoming architectural barriers at the Pomposa Abbey (130,000), and the project of restoration and musealization of the National Gallery of Puglia in Bitonto (300,000).
