The Villa Méditerranée in Marseille will present an exceptional reconstruction of the prehistoric Cosquer Cave in 2022.
The latter is located at a depth of thirty meters and was discovered in 1991 by diver Henri Cosquer (to whom the cave is named): the rock walls are covered with rock artwork, with depictions of hands and animals.
A replica of the cave will therefore be created in Marseille and will be accessible and open to all. The project involves an investment of ten million euros by the French region and will make use of photos, projections, and 3D surveys. It will be a real technological challenge for an experience that will feel like an underwater exploration lasting just over forty minutes; the base of the Ville Méditerranée building is in fact two meters below sea level.
Marseille, will open in 2022 the reconstruction of the prehistoric cave of Cosquer |
