Parma Italian Capital of Culture 2020-2021 restarts with a rich program of events, theater shows, film screenings, concerts, meetings with authors, dance performances, and children’s workshops. It also launches a new platform, anapp, a card and a new website for volunteering: tools that aim to combine culture, tradition and digital innovation.
“For Parma Capitale there will be no design changes, but new ideas and tools made available by technology. Once again, especially today, we are convinced that culture will have to function as a glue in society: restarting from culture to rethink cities, Italy and our world, in a difficult and ever-changing moment,” said the city’s mayor Federico Pizzarotti.
The restart, which will focus on the potential of digital with a human-centric approach, will be conveyed through the platform and app (downloadable from Play Store and Apple Store) that will allow people to get to know the city, discover the surrounding area and plan quality food and wine tourism. The app will allow virtual and immersive visits right from home, planning a personalized visit involving places of interest, events and itineraries; people will also be able to take advantage of audio guides and a queue seat reservation system and have suggestions of events and places according to their interests.
From September 1, 2020, with Parma Card citizens and tourists will be able to access the area’s tourist-cultural system and transportation with competitive prices and many benefits. The card for citizens of Parma and its province is valid for one year, the one for tourists is valid for three days (72 hours) and allows unrestricted access to bike sharing and transportation for one person. Purchasable on the platform, via app or at participating locations, it costs 20 euros if purchased in 2020 and 21 euros if purchased in 2021. For citizens of Parma and the province, the Early Bird promotion is available: until August 30, the cost is 15 euros and the validity is until December 31, 2021.
Also created is a new networking site for the city’s volunteers created by the City of Parma in collaboration with CSV Emilia - Forum Solidarietà and the scientific coordination of Promo PA Fondazione, to promote civic engagement and active citizenship. The site(www.miimpegnoaparma.it) integrates all the different sectors in which volunteering can take place: from culture to social, from health to sports, from the environment to food and wine, to create a uniform and effective volunteer search and management system. On the portal it will be possible not only to post and consult offers, but also to find training videos.
