The Magazzino Italian Art Foundation opens to the public a research center in New York for the preservation of postwar and contemporary Italian artworks.

The Magazzino Italian Art Foundation opens to the public a research center in New York City, more specifically in Cold Spring, for the preservation of postwar and contemporary Italian artworks. Designed by Spanish architect Miguel Quismondo, the 2,000-foot structure was completed in June 2017 and stores more than four thousand publications, more than three hundred rare books, and archives of Italian art and design from the mid-20th century to the present day in its library.

The occasion will mark the launch of Magazzino’s new annual Fellowship Program, called the Fellowship Program, to award funding to emerging scholars from diverse backgrounds pursuing an independent research project, thus activating and expanding Magazzino’s initiatives. Francesco Guzzetti, a scholar of theArte Povera movement who received his studies from the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa and a doctorate fromHarvard University, has been named as the first invited scholar-in-residence at its headquarters.
Magazzino Italian Art was founded by Nancy Olnick and Giorgio Spanu.
