Luciano Ventrone's House-Studio opens to the public for the first time since July

Luciano Ventrone's House-Studio in Collelongo (L'Aquila) opens to the public for the first time. July 1, 2022.

From July 1, 2022, it will be possible to visit Luciano Ventrone’s House-Studio in Collelongo (L’Aquila) at the initiative of the Luciano Ventrone and Miranda Gibilisco ETS Foundation. The house where the artist lived and worked from 1994 until his death on April 16, 2021, has never before been open to the public.

It is therefore an opportunity to get to know, among previously unseen masterpieces, theenormous legacy of the artist defined by Federico Zeri as the Caravaggio of the 20th century for his “skillfully violent” still lif es. Starting with photography and working directly on it, Ventrone captures those details not visible to the human eye that create wonder in the viewer. His choice of subjects links him to great painters of the past, but his attention to the application of paint, color and light place him among the great contemporary artists. His still lifes are hyperrealistic and illusionistic representations not of the subjects themselves, but of a neo-platonic idea-form, leading the viewer to reflect on the dualism between reality and appearance.

The House-Studio aims to be a new space for research, popularization, and teaching on contemporary painting, so it is a project that intends to initiate international and inter-institutional collaborations to contribute to the revitalization of the Abruzzo region.

Free visits with cultural mediation by reservation, educational activities, residencies designed and realized with institutions in the territory are planned.

The Luciano Ventrone House-Museum is open to the public by appointment. For information and reservations write to the email address archivio@lucianoventrone.com
