Liguria's red carpets rejected

Liguria's red carpets don't like the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage of Liguria; they will be removed in Portovenere, Dolceacqua, and Cervo.

The Superintendence of Cultural Heritage of Liguria does not like the red carpets installed on monuments in Liguria: according to Vincenzo Tinè, superintendent of Liguria, red carpets cannot interact with a historic monument by compromising the historical, artistic and landscape heritage.

In particular, those spread on the staircase of Portovenere, in the castle of Dolceacqua and in the church of Cervo have been contested; here the red carpets will be removed.

Also contested was the way the carpet was fixed to the ground, namely with the use of nails, as it creates damage to historic walks.

Giovanni Toti, president of Liguria Region, said:"In the meeting with the superintendent, it was established that the red carpets are a meritorious initiative of territorial promotion of Liguria and its beauties; the installation of the red carpets is regular, so much so that no action will be pursued by the Superintendence; the Superintendence itself has issued a note where it simply reminds some things of pure common sense, such as avoiding damaging the sidewalks where the red carpets are installed and keeping them clean as long as the carpets remain; in limited cases, to meet the needs of the Superintendence, the carpets may be shortened by a few meters so that they do not impact monumental sites that would formally require more complex administrative procedures to be involved."
