For the first time, Casa Leopardi is giving Italian schools the opportunity to take guided educational tours via live streaming.
“In this very delicate historical moment,” said Countess Olimpia Leopardi, a descendant of the poet, “children should not be forced to give up the pleasures that culture can give us. The impossibility of being able to organize school field trips in attendance has meant the loss of an important opportunity to socialize, have fun and deepen the subject of their studies. Casa Leopardi wishes, with this new project, to open a virtual window that allows people to look at the world of Giacomo Leopardi from their own homes. What children have studied in textbooks will become tangible: it will be an opportunity to immerse themselves in the poet’s thoughts and experience his daily life.”
Pupils will be able to remotely visit the Library and Museum that brings together objects, texts and documents of Giacomo Leopardi. This is a way to discover, even in this time of health emergency, the daily life, passions and studies of the famous poet from Recanati through the guides of the House Museum. The guided tours will be interactive: pupils and teachers will be able to ask questions to the experts at the end of the visit.
Dedicated to elementary school is In the Classroom with Giacomo, while designed for first and second grade secondary schools is the itinerary The Boy Who Talked to the Moon.
The project has the patronage of the University of Macerata.
