Jeff Koons' tulip bouquet will be unveiled in October in the Champs-Elysées gardens

Jeff Koons' Bouquet of tulips, a work at the center of controversy for three years, will open on October 4, 2019 in the Champs-Elysées Gardens.

Friday, October 4, 2019, will see the unveiling in Paris of the sculpture that Jeff Koons is offering to the city: the Bouquet of Tulips, a work that has been at the center of controversy for three years and prompted an open letter written by French cultural figures and a petition signed by 8,000 people. The sculpture will be placed in the gardens of the Champs-Elysées, between the Petit Palais and Place de la Concorde.

Made of painted bronze, steel and aluminum, the work depicts a hand clutching and holding aloft a bouquet of eleven tulips.
Jeff Koons’ gift to Parisians had been announced in November 2016 as a tribute to the victims of the terrorist attacks in France in 2015.

The American artist stated that his work is a hand reaching out to people.
