Thanks to the Italia Loves Romagna concert held at theRCF Arena Reggio Emilia - Campovolo last June 24 to support the reconstruction of symbolic places of art and culture in the areas affected by the floods in Emilia Romagna, 3,002. 183.51 million euros that will be allocated to six projects: 800,000 euros will go to Cesena for the Malatestiana Library; 800,000 euros to Faenza for the “Giuseppe Sarti” School of Music; 800,000 euros to Forlì for the Municipal Archives; 200,000 euros to Dovadola for the Rocca dei Conti Guidi di Dovadola; 200,000 euros to Tredozio for the Municipal Library; and 200,000 euros to Solarolo for the Oratorio dell’Annunziata.
“We are very close to Romagna and this initiative is an important part of a series of commitments,” said Culture Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano. “The government, at my proposal, has decided to allocate one euro for every admission to Italian museums to this territory; in three months we will have a substantial nest egg that we will make available for the recovery and protection of the artistic-cultural heritage of Romagna. There’s more: with Commissioner Francesco Paolo Figliuolo we are dialoguing on how to effectively spend a surplus on the PNRR rural architecture line to be used for the reconstruction of farmhouses and rustic-type buildings damaged by the flood.”
“This is an unprecedented initiative: I do not remember in the past that a ministry has ever promoted a major entertainment and solidarity event,” commented Undersecretary Gianmarco Mazzi. “The artists, who participated free of charge and whom I thank, are a soul of popular culture and have one characteristic: they belong to a world that, apart from the pause of the pandemic period, does not receive and does not ask for public funding, however, they are the first to respond when an appeal is made to them. We raised three million euros and we also got many people to work: the result makes us proud. I believe it is an experience to be repeated.”
“I would like to thank everyone for the funds raised at the extraordinary solidarity event that was ’Italia Loves Romagna,’ a concrete testimony to the generosity of Italians toward the drama that struck our region,” stressed Emilia Romagna Regional President Stefano Bonaccini. “I renew my thanks to Minister Sangiuliano and Undersecretary Mazzi for their collaboration, to all the artists who made the concert possible, and especially to those who donated: with the money raised we will finance six projects related to as many cultural assets affected by the flood. We want to start again soon and well, and also do so from such a fundamental sector as culture and historical-artistic heritage.”
