There are 16 cities vying for the title of Italian Capital of Culture 2025. The title of Italian Capital of Culture, desired by Culture Minister Dario Franceschini, is awarded for the duration of one year, and the winning city receives one million euros for the implementation of the project. Procida holds the title for 2022, since its inception, the title has been awarded: in 2015, to the Cities of Cagliari, Lecce, Perugia, Ravenna and Siena; in 2016, to Mantua; in 2017, to Pistoia; in 2018, to Palermo.
