Hands on Ca' Sagredo must be dismantled. Quinn: remain in the city.

Lorenzo Quinn's Support work, the hands supporting Ca' Sagredo in Venice, is to be dismantled and has already been requested by the Peggy Guggenheim in New York.

Support: the hands, which coming out of the Grand Canal in Venice hold upHotel Ca’ Sagredo, made by Lorenzo Quinn, should be dismantled because they are part of the temporary works of the Venice Art Biennale that ended on Nov. 26, 2017.

After some extensions, the Superintendency will start the dismantling work on April 30.

Quinn’s Hands have already been requested by the Peggy Guggenheim in New York, but the artist is convinced that they should remain in the city of Venice to prolong the very meaning of the work: that of “supporting” and protecting the city.

That is why efforts are being made with the right adaptations to get Quinn’s work into a museum or public space to be reclaimed.
