Guarini's Chapel wins European Heritage Award one year after its restoration

One year after its restoration and reopening to the public, Guarini's Chapel has won the European Heritage Award.

One year after its reopening to the public following its restoration and its introduction into the visiting itinerary of the Royal Museums of Turin, Guarini’s Chapel was awarded the 2019 European Heritage Prize / Europa Nostra Award given by the European Commission and Europa Nostra. An award given for a very delicate restoration: due to the tragic fire that occurred on April 11, 1997, the structure had numerous damages. TheEuropean Heritage Awards ceremony will take place in Paris on October 29, 2019, in the presence of European Commissioner Tibor Navracsics.

To celebrate this important event, the Royal Museums will organize a day of initiatives dedicated to Guarini’s masterpiece on November 22, 2019.

“Undoubtedly it was a great emotion. The inauguration and the international conference that followed made it possible to return this masterpiece to everyone, thanks to the efforts of the many people who worked to save it. The public has responded positively so much so that access figures to the Royal Museums are continuing to grow,” said Royal Museums director Enrica Pagella.
