Great success for the third edition of Milano MuseoCity: visitors tripled in 2018

Great success for the third edition of Milano MuseoCity: tripled the number of visitors in 2018.

The third edition of Milano MuseoCity (which we reported on here) ended successfully. Over the three days of the event, from March 1 to 3, there was a great influx of visitors to the 80 institutions, both public and private, that joined the initiative, including the Casa Museo Boschi di Stefano and BIG - Borsa Italiana Gallery - Palazzo Mezzanotte, which welcomed three times as many visitors as last year’s edition.

The public took advantage of Milano MuseoCity to visit the smaller museums as well as the institutions that joined the event for the first time, such as the Perfume Museum and the Typewriter Museum, or like the Luigi Rovati Foundation, which on Sunday, March 3 alone opened the construction site of the future Etruscan museum on an extraordinary basis, welcoming more than 700 people, or even such as the Fire Brigade Historical Museum, which is normally not freely accessible to the public, as it is inside an active barracks that is always ready to organize interventions in case of emergency.

“Museocity was again this year a great celebration for our city,” said Culture Councillor Filippo Del Corno. “Thanks to the involvement of so many organizations, museums, institutions, collections and associations, Museocity not only offered a mapping of Milan’s wealth of art and collections, but also allowed visitors to get a glimpse of the future of the city’s museum offerings, which will expand to include new collections by increasingly broadening its offerings.”

“In this third edition of Museocity we found a particular interest from the public for new institutions,” stressed Maria Grazia Mazzocchi, president of the MuseoCity Association. “Even the smaller ones, which joined the event for the first time this year. We will do our best to ensure that the interest of so many people in Milan’s art treasures remains alive in the coming months ... and that the anticipation for the 2020 edition is reborn, right away!”
