Artist Francesco Mori has won the competition to create four new decorative stained glass windows for the Baptistery of Pisa.

TheOpera della Primaziale Pisana had announced a competition for their creation, and from more than fifty candidates, the Grosseto artist was chosen by the commission.



The stained glass windows will depict St. Ranieri, patron of Pisa, Paul VI, John Paul II and Blessed Giuseppe Toniolo: these will complete the decorative cycle of the sixteen historiated stained glass windows in the Baptistery.

The stained glass windows already present have been restored by the “La Venaria Reale” Conservation and Restoration Center in Turin, under the direction of theCentral Institute for Restoration in Rome, while those to be created by Francesco Mori will be placed by April 30, 2018.
