For Valentine's Day, the Borghese Gallery offers insights on Venus and a contest on love

A week of in-depth studies on Venus, the goddess of love, and a photo contest on the theme of love, for couples and noncouples: this is the Borghese Gallery's proposal for Valentine's Day week, Feb. 14-19.

The Goddess of Love: the Thousand Faces of Venus is the title of the special initiative in Rome that the Borghese Gallery is dedicating to the Feast of Lovers: an entire week, from Feb. 14 to 19, to celebrate Valentine’s Day together.

Every day from 4 to 7 p.m., the museum offers thematic insights to discover the thousand faces of Venus. Goddess of love, beauty, natural fertility, sensual or demure, capricious or persuasive, Venus finds ample space in the imagination of artists and patrons, as evidenced by her widespread presence in the Borghese collection. The insights will take place in Room X, the so-called Cabinet of Venuses, located on the second floor of the museum, and in Room I, on the ground floor, dedicated to Pauline Borghese as Venus Vincitrice, an apotheosis of the eternal fascinatory power of the goddess and a celebration of Antonio Canova’s genius 200 years after her death.

In addition, during the week of Valentine’s Day, visitors to the Borghese Gallery are invited to participate in the social contest Scatta l’amore in Galleria! Simply capture a gesture, moment or work related to the initiative and post it on your Instagram channel by tagging @gallalleriaborghesefficiale and #borgheseinlove. The images will be shared in the stories of the museum’s official account and the most beautiful will be rewarded with You and me, the Borghese Gallery’s membership card dedicated to couples.

The initiative is free, except for the cost of the museum entrance ticket and mandatory reservation. The ticket can be purchased on the website www.galleriaborghese.it, by clicking BUY, or by calling +39 06 32810.
