On January 16, 2019, the first monographic exhibition dedicated to the archaeological site of Paestum will open in China at theHebei Museum: thus, for the first time ever outside Europe, a review of this place of ancient Mediterranean history and culture will be organized.
Planning the exhibition are in Paestum the director of the archaeological site, Gabriel Zuchtriegel, and the director of the Hebei Museum, Luo Xiangiun.
It will be a traveling exhibition, titled"Paestum: A City of the Ancient Mediterranean," which will be on view until July 2019: it will feature 135 works and the museums involved will also be those of Ningxia, Jilin, Panlongcheng and Nanshan.
Also part of the exhibition will be the marble statue of Hera from the shrine dedicated to the goddess at the mouth of the Sele River and its terracotta reproductions, some painted slabs, unique testimonies to the ancient Mediterranean, grave goods from urban necropolises, and the Pestan potter Assteas.
The exhibition will have the scientific direction of Gabriel Zuchtriegel and archaeologists Daniele Rossetti and Francesco Uliano Scelza; the exhibition design and multimedia supports will be handled by architects Gaetano Di Gesu and Susanna Ferrini of Design n!studio Asia in Rome.
