Fondazione Querini Stampalia adds a new section from the Cassa di Risparmio di Venezia collection

From November 21, 2018, the Fondazione Querini Stampalia will be enriched with a new section: paintings, sculptures, manuscripts from the collection of the Cassa di Risparmio di Venezia.

New at the Fondazione Querini Stampalia in Venice: from November 21, 2018, a new section will be added to the usual collection. The latter will consist of paintings, sculptures and furniture from the Cassa di Risparmio di Venezia, now Intesa Sanpaolo. A section that will remain permanently and will not be a temporary exhibition.

The Fondazione Querini Stampalia was thought of because it is a fine example of collecting and a house museum. Satisfied is the president of the Foundation, Marino Cortese, who says, “For this new collection, which perfectly complements what is owned by Querini Stampalia, one can speak of a ’rediscovered treasure.’ That it is a treasure there is no doubt: the quality and level of the works will be evident to those who come to admire them. ”Rediscovered“ because it comes out of the places where it was kept. But it could also be said ’unveiled,’ because these paintings, sculptures, furniture, the invaluable books, and the coin cabinet, when they were in Carive, were not always accessible to the public.”

The new treasure will be located on the third floor of the Querini Stampalia; among the works are two paintings by Canaletto, Tintoretto ’s large sketch of Paradise and Tiepolo’s Last Judgment, sculptures by Arturo Martini and Alberto Viani. It also adds a vast number of manuscripts, books, woodcuts and engravings that are part of the Venetian Library.
