Filming of Konchalovsky's film on Michelangelo is nearing completion.

Shooting of "Sin," a film directed by Andrei Konchalovsky centered on the figure of Michelangelo Buonarrotti, is nearing completion in Rome.
Filming had begun at the end of August and took place in various locations in Tuscany and Lazio that marked the artist’s life and works such as Monte Altissimo(Henraux quarries), the Malaspina Castle in Massa, Florence, Arezzo, Montepulciano, Carrara, Bagno a Ripoli, Pienza, Monte Sansovino, Tarquinia, Caprarola and, finally, Rome.
The Russian director, author of “Maria’s Lovers” and “Paradise” and winner of, among others, a Special Jury Prize and two Silver Lions at Venice, is also a producer of the film with his Andrei Konchalovsky Foundation for Cinema and Performing Arts together with the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, with the contribution of Russian entrepreneur and philanthropist Alisher Usmanov, and Jean Vigo Italia with Rai Cinema.
“What do I like about Michelangelo? His contradictions. He was attached to money, like me on the other hand,” the director smiled to the microphones of Ansa.it, “But he was also shrewd, and he knew how to confront the powerful. If I had to define him, I would say he was like an innocent thief. He was a genius who knew how to create masterpieces in an era where he had no freedom, while today, on the contrary we have much more freedom and far fewer masterpieces.”
Costing 15 million euros, the film is expected to be ready to debut, probably at a major festival, in the second half of 2018.
