In Ferrara, with excavation work just beginning for the construction of new sewer and water pipes in Via Porta San Pietro, the first archaeological evidence of one of the oldest parts of the city has emerged. Already in the early stages of the work, a small portion of the ancient 14th-century street was in fact uncovered. The portion is already visible in a section located on the right side of the road, with respect to the direction of travel. The ancient bricks laid by cutting highlight the old route.
The Hera construction site got under way last week, for an investment of 200,000 euros. The temporary grouping of companies awarded the contract consists of Ar.Co. Lavori società cooperativa consortile and Acg Costruzioni Generali Spa.
Barring unforeseen events, the construction site will be completed between the end of October and the beginning of November 2023. This will be followed, at the conclusion of the work carried out by Hera, by the Municipality of Ferrara to resurface sidewalks and road paving.
During the work period, access will be allowed only for pedestrians and cycles; all vehicles will be diverted to Via Fondobanchetto.
