Valentino Vago, an artist among the leading exponents of Italian abstract painting, left us this morning at his Milan home at the age of 86.
Born in 1931 in Barlassina, he attended the Brera Academy in the 1950s. His first major solo exhibition was in 1960 at the Salone Annunciata in Milan.
After several solo shows in Milan, Turin and Rome, he won the XXVI Michetti Prize in 1972.
In 1980 Palazzo Reale in Milan hosted"Tre stanze in scala tonale," his environmental intervention, followed by his first anthological exhibition at PAC in Milan in the 1980s and several collaborations with architects.
In 2007 he devoted himself to decorating the church of Our Lady of the Rosary in Doha, Qatar, while his last environmental work was in 2017 inside the church of San Giovanni in Laterano in Milan,"My Paradise."
And it is in the latter building that the funeral will take place on Friday morning.
