Alessandro Caligaris, a well-known street artist from Turin, passed away. He was 37 years old. Last week, Caligaris was having dinner with his girlfriend and, due to a trivial accident, choked on a mouthful of food. Rushed toMolinette Hospital, the artist died after a few days in a coma.
Announcing the fact was the publishing house Eris, for which Caligaris published, with the following statement: “This is one of those pieces of news that one would never want to give. Sadly, our friend Alessandro Caligaris left us two nights ago. We do not have many words to express our sorrow for losing a part of us, humanly and professionally. We believed in it together we walked the first steps together and together we grew up in this world of drawings and words. If you have walked even a piece of the road together with Alexander and would like to leave us a message, even a private one, we will turn it over to the family.”
After attending theAlbertina Academy of Fine Arts, Caligaris had created many murals in the suburbs and province of Turin, while other works were published by the Eris publishing house itself.
