Funeral services were held yesterday in Turin for Rosaria Cigliano, art historian and president of the 1563 Foundation for Art and Culture as well as manager for the Arts, Activities and Cultural Heritage area of the Compagnia di San Paolo. Rosaria Cigliano, 53, was ill and passed away on Christmas Eve night following a worsening health condition, but until the last she had not stopped devoting herself to her activities in support of art and culture.
The 1563 Foundation, an instrumental entity of the Compagnia di San Paolo (1563 is the year the Compagnia was founded), carries out actions to support research in the humanities: since 2012, it has been providing scholarships for young scholars pursuing programs on the age and culture of the Baroque. In addition, the Foundation preserves and enhances the Historical Archives of the Compagnia di San Paolo. With the passing of Rosaria Cigliano, the world of art and culture loses a prominent figure who, with passion and expertise, worked hard to provide opportunities for many young scholars and to offer valuable and important support for art-historical research.
Farewell to Rosaria Cigliano, president of the 1563 Foundation for Art and Culture |
