Eva Elisa Fabbris is the new director of the Madre Museum in Naples.
“Eva Elisa Fabbris presented a project that stood out for its scientific value and adherence to the mission of Madre. The proposal, together with Fabbris’s previous experience in the field and the qualities she also demonstrated during the interview, we are certain will contribute to the increase of our institution’s offerings and international prestige,” said Angela Tecce, president, Fondazione Donnaregina per le arti contemporanee di Napoli. “The Board of Directors shared the evaluations of the examining committee, identifying her as the Director, a new figure for the Foundation after the statutory changes. I want to take this opportunity to again thank all the members of the committee for their commitment, the Campania Region for its support of Fondazione Donnaregina, and outgoing artistic director Kathryn Weir for her work.”
Born in 1979, Eva Fabbris received her PhD in Humanities from the University of Trento. She has been collaborating with the Research Department of the Fondazione Prada in Milan since 2016. She curated "Back to the Future" for Artissima in Turin, as well as solo and group exhibitions for international institutions. In 2008 and 2009 she was curatorial assistant at Museion in Bolzano, while the following two years she served as assistant curator at the Galleria Civica in Trento.
“It is an honor and a privilege,” commented the newly appointed director. “It is a museum with an authoritative history. In the city of Naples, where contemporary art constitutes an extraordinary shared cultural root, it is a place of excellence for debate on the arts, which energetically opens up to the international dimension. As I begin this assignment, I aspire to contribute to the growth of this institution in meeting new audiences and experimenting with knowledge-sharing models in a dynamic, research-based and inclusive program. I envision a Mother addressed to sustainability, vital, curious, and able to offer multidisciplinary tools to interrogate contemporaneity; a museum that is a ”home“ for women artists, and a constant stimulus for its many and differentiated audiences.”
