Singular action by the environmental collective BP or not BP, which fights against the British Petroleum (BP) company’s sponsorship of the British Museum in London: day before yesterday, anti-petroleum activists in fact disguised themselves as Achaean soldiers and brought a Trojan horse to the British. The action was aimed at protesting the fact that BP is financially supporting the exhibition Troy : myth and reality, focused, of course, on the Greek myth of Troy.

The horse, made of wood, is about four meters tall and was made with funds from crowdfunding activities. “Hundreds of people,” reads a letter that BP or not BP activists delivered to the museum, “helped us bear the cost of this horse because they strongly believe that the museum should not promote and legitimize an oil company when we are in the midst of a climate emergency.”

The museum, for its part, had already made it known that it would not stand in the way of the protest, since it was a peaceful demonstration. The protest, in fact, continued the following day (i.e. yesterday) and was attended by 1,500 people (according to the group, it is the largest demonstration action ever held at the British Museum) to “transform the British Museum into a space of resistance, creativity and justice” (so again the collective).
