During the discussion in the Budget Committee of the bill converting the relaunch decree, which will be discussed in the Senate in a few days (it has already obtained the approval of the House), an an amendment proposed by a group of deputies from the League (Massimo Garavaglia, Andreina Silvana Comaroli, Giuseppe Bellachioma, Claudio Borghi, Vanessa Cattoi, Emanuele Cestari, Rebecca Frassini, Vannia Gava and Maura Tomasi) was approved last July 3 to establish a bonus reserved for university students, and which will grant them a month of free travel on Italian railways, and a month of free admissions to museums, monuments and archaeological sites in the country.
The amendment was incorporated, with some slight changes, into paragraph 1-bis of Article 182 of the text of the bill, which was approved by the House last July 9. Here’s what it says: “in order to promote cultural tourism, students enrolled in courses for a bachelor’s degree, university master’s degree and doctoral degree at universities and institutions of higher learning shall be granted, for the year 2020, in compliance with the spending limit of 10 million euros for the same year 2020, free travel on the Italian railway network for the duration of one month of their choice and free admission, for the same period, to museums, monuments, galleries and archaeological areas located in the national territory and to educational exhibitions held in them.”
The implementing provisions for this measure, reads Paragraph 1-ter, will be issued by decree of the Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation, in consultation with the Minister of Economy and Finance, to be adopted within sixty days from the date of entry into force of the law converting this decree: therefore, since the dl Rilancio will necessarily have to be converted into law by July 18, it means that as early as mid-September, should the bonus be retained by the Senate, it will be known what the terms and modalities will be for students to benefit from the travel and museum bonus.
