Another distinguished tourist has visited the Uffizi in Florence. He is Oliver Stone, Oscar-winning director and author of such films as Platoon, Born on the Fourth of July, The Doors and Natural Born Killers.
The American filmmaker, born in 1946, showed up in the well-known museum in jeans and T-shirt together with family members early yesterday afternoon.
He was given a tour guide by director Eike Schmidt, who took him on a tour of masterpieces such as portraits of the Dukes of Urbino, various paintings by Leonardo and Michelangelo, until leading him to the spaces of Florentine and Venetian painting of the 1500s. Stone showed "great appreciation, in addition to the displays, for Bronzino’s portraits, such as theEleonora da Toledo, and the Warrior with Squire attributed to Giorgione."
