DcomeDesign presents in Milan and Lodi the second edition of its mugs with a Victorian aesthetic

DcomeDesign presents the second edition of I am cup of tea! - 2nd edition with a mustache, featuring unique mugs made by women and men. The event, co-produced with CASVA will have two stages: the first in Milan from October 16 to 30, 2024, and the second in Lodi from December 14, 2024, to January 26, 2025.

DcomeDesign, an association committed to the promotion and dissemination of female creativity, presents the exhibition Sono tazza di te!- 2nd edition with a mustache, curated by Anty Pansera and Patrizia Sacchi and co-produced with CASVA. Absolute novelty will be the presence of twelve male artists as well, with the new format “with a mustache” precisely. For the first time, DcomeDesign will exhibit one-of-a-kind mugs designed and made by both women and men. The second Italian “with a mustache” edition will have two stages: the first at the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan from October 16 to 30, 2024, and the second in Lodi at the former Church of the Angel from December 14, 2024 to January 26, 2025. On display were mugs designed by 26 women, the theme free with no constraints of size, material, function, and twelve guests from almost all over Italy, who proposed fascinating and also unexpected “moustache-saving mugs,” reinterpreting Victorian aesthetics in a contemporary key. The idea originated from the nineteenth-century Mustache Cups: in 1860, Englishman Harvey Adams invented a cup with a special feature, a crescent-shaped stirrup to protect the “honor of the lip” of those gentlemen who sported, and cared for, their extraordinary mustaches, which at tea time ran the risk of drooping, melting the wax that molded them from the hot steam. On display then is the curious private collection of Carlo Filosa, a refined Paduan amateur of this unusual type of “object of use,” consisting of more than 100 pieces collected over more than 30 years. Special guests are Giancarlo Cazzaniga, Michele Cuomo, Guido De Zan, Giorgio Gurioli, Alessandro Iudici, Pasquale Liguori, Andrea Marconi, Marco Pisati, Carlo Pizzichini, Alberto Maria Prina, Andrea Salvatori and Maurizio Tittarelli Rubboli. Among the female designers, some have already been present at the first edition, numerous new entries. Particular are the different approaches and languages used to create the mugs and especially the types of materials used (recycled and discarded, plastic ferrules, silver-plated copper wire, cable ties, waxed cotton thread, wools, marble, steel, iron, glass, earths).

So Silvia Bianchi, Claudia Botta, Flora Caroli, Donatella Carollo, Laura Cavestro, Erika Chinaglia, Laura Cristinzio, Sarah Dalla Costa, Varvara Erikhova, Luisa Ferrara, Gloria Gianatti, Mariacristina Giobbi, Anna Giuli Del Monte, Ilaria Grimaldi, Rosanna La Spesa, Cinzia Li Volsi, Maria Maddalena Manna, Francesca Mo, Marzia Mucchietto, Floriana Pastore, Karin Putsch-Grassi, Valeria Eva Rossi, Livia Sciorilli Borrelli, Claudia Tagliaferro, Eliana Valenti, Teresa Vella. A cameo in the exhibition, which anticipates the second stop in Lodi from Dec. 14, 2024 to Jan. 26, 2025, is the presence of several pieces of Lodi artistic ceramics signed by the C.A. L. (Ceramica Artistica Lodigiana) manufactory. On Saturday, Oct. 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Kintsugi between East and West event will be held at the Fabbrica del Vapore. Chiara Lorenzetti will present her manual Kintsugi, the art of repairing with gold and lead a practical demonstration of the steps involved in Kintsugi, with the opportunity to experience the technique personally. Technical sponsor ELEMENTI, a company that produces tables and furniture complements and is characterized by the use of aluminum, which allows the creation of customized pieces.
