A work by illustrator Matteo Berton dedicated to Lucio Dalla and Lucio Battisti was unveiled today on the facade of Sony Music ’s Milan headquarters. The two famous singers would in fact both have turned 80 this year, the former on March 4, the latter on March 5.

“Working on the illustration for the 80th birth anniversary of Battisti and Dalla,” says Matteo Berton, "was a great opportunity to rediscover the bond I have with these two icons of Italian music. Each of us surely has a memory linked to one of their songs, for me they were different, the oldest perhaps being Mom and her records of Battisti but also the first time I heard Com’è profondo il mare and the nights spent playing their songs on the guitar. I wanted to work on an allegorical, almost Renaissance-like composition where the two pose in the middle of fields and chickens in a folk context far from the places of celebrity. On the ground is a blanket and still life of a picnic and scattered throughout the image are easter eggs and references to their songs."
