Dali's body exhumed: well-preserved even his mustache

After a Madrid judge ordered the exhumation of Salvador Dalí ’s body to verify whether Pilar Abel Martínez is really the artist’s daughter, according to the woman’s claim of years, Dalí’s embalmed body was exhumed last night.

Over a period of four to five hours, samples of nails, hair and bones were taken for DNA testing.

The body was found to be well preserved, even his famous mustache still intact.

“It was exciting, but the important thing is that he can return to rest in peace,” said Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation Secretary General Lluís Peñuelas.
The artist’s body has returned to rest in the crypt of the Dalí Theater-Museum in Figueres.
