Dürer's Madonna of the Patronage returns to Bagnacavallo on display after 50 years

After fifty years, Albrecht Dürer's Madonna of the Patronage is back on display in its original location in Bagnacavallo.

The Madonna and Child, also known as Madonna of the Patronage, painted by Albrecht Dürer will return from Dec. 14, 2019 to Feb. 2, 2020 to Bagnacavallo, specifically to theformer monastery of the Capuchin Poor Clares, now a civic museum.

The painting was executed in 1495 and was kept in the Capuchin Monastery in Bagnacavallo until 1969. After fifty years, therefore, the work extraordinarily returns to its original location, thanks to a loan from the Magnani Rocca Foundation in Traversetolo, where it is now kept in its permanent collection.

Satisfied is the mayor of Bagnacavallo, Eleonora Proni, who anticipates that this event will be the highlight of an important cultural project that the Museo Civico delle Cappuccine will dedicate to Dürer.

In fact, from September 21, 2019 to January 19, 2020, the museum venue will host the exhibition Albrecht Dürer - The Privilege of Disquiet.
