Cosenza: new Calatrava bridge opens Jan. 26

The new Santiago Calatrava Bridge in the city of Cosenza will open on Jan. 26.

The famous Spanish architect will also be present at the event, and the festivities will kick off with music and lights, as well as spectacular aerial appearances to astound all attendees.

The architectural work will become a symbol of the city’s regeneration with its 130-meter width and 104-meter tower.

The project, financed with 13.5 million euros and built by the Cimolai company, has been in the works since 2011, and now “the bridge is a sign of victory that shows that public works can be done in Italy as well,” said Mayor Mario Occhiuto.
