Coronavirus, all museums and cultural venues in Lombardy closed until further notice


Following the spread of the coronavirus emergency, the Lombardy Region is preparing an ordinance, valid for the entire regional territory (and which will soon be sent to all prefects of the Lombard provinces for timely communication to the mayors of all municipalities) that will be effective until further notice. Included among the measures is the suspension of the services of opening to the public of museums and other institutes and places of culture. So, throughout Lombardy, museums, libraries and cultural places will remain closed to the public indefinitely until a new order is issued.

The ordinance also arranges for the suspension of demonstrations of any kind, events and forms of gatherings in public places, including those of a cultural, recreational, sports and religious nature, and the suspension of preschool educational services and schools of all levels, as well as attendance at school and higher education activities, professional courses, master’s degrees, courses for the health professions and universities for the elderly with the exception of interns and trainees in the health professions, except for training activities carried out remotely.



The Lombardy Region recommends that citizens observe basic hygiene measures: wash hands often with hydroalcoholic solutions, avoid close contact with people suffering from respiratory infections, do not touch your eyes, nose and mouth with your hands, cover your nose and mouth if you sneeze or cough, do not take antivirals or antibiotics unless prescribed, contact the regional hotline 800 894545 only for the Codogno area or 112 if you have a fever or cough or if you have been back from China for less than 14 days.
