Issue 10 of Finestre Sull’Arte on Paper, our quarterly print magazine, a monographic publication with 176 color pages bound in an elegant paperback, is now out. The new issue, which can already be pre-ordered (it is due out in June), is entirely devoted to Africa, with a chronological path from the Renaissance to the present day.
In this issue there will be articles on these topics: African presences in Italian Renaissance art; the Moors of Livorno, a masterpiece by Pietro Tacca; art at the time of Italian colonialism in Africa; African art and the avant-garde of the early 20th century, from Picasso to Modigliani; paths in contemporary African art, with some big names; the art of El Anatsui, Otobong Nkanga, Omar Ba; the bronzes of Ife; Jean Pigozzi’s collection of contemporary African art; and the African Museum in Verona. Guiding us through these topics will be Ilaria Baratta, Stella Cattaneo, Tristana Chinni, Francesca Della Ventura, Fabrizio Federici, Federico Giannini, Cristina Principale, Alessandro Romanini, and Jacopo Suggi.
Don’t miss the usual section on debate, where we will host museologists and leading contemporary art museum directors who will discuss the topic of new acquisition policies that aim to make museums more inclusive: Riccardo Passoni (director of the GAM in Turin), Cristiana Perrella (director of the Centro Pecci in Prato), Chiara Parisi (director of the Pompidou-Metz), Andreas Beitin (director of the Kunstmuseum in Wolfsburg), and museologists Sandro Debono and Nicole Moolhuijsen, among others, will discuss this topic.
The new issue can already be reserved: you can buy the single issue for €9.90 plus postage, or take out an affordable four-issue subscription for only €29.90 plus postage. Happy reading!
