Christ of the Abyss of Vallevò (Chieti) found: he had been missing for a month

The "Christ of the Abyss," the sculpture located in the seabed off the coast of Vallevò (Chieti), was found this morning by a diver while on one of his usual amateur dives.
Luigi Morgione, that’s the name, found the statue near the pier in San Vito (Chieti), wedged between the rocks.

The work is a 73-cm-tall, 15-kilogram bronze sculpture made by sculptor Vito Pancella for theOrsa Minore Association of Lanciano, and is a symbol of the Costa dei Trabocchi seafaring industry. The sculpture had disappeared last June 4 from the bottom of Vallevò in Rocca San Giovanni, its original location, when a group of divers from the Orsa Minore Association noticed its disappearance. Initially, when they filed a complaint with the Carabinieri, it was thought that the statue had been stolen.
Now that the statue has been found, the carabinieri will ascertain its authenticity and then hand it over to Rocca San Giovanni Mayor Gianni Di Rito.
