The Directorate General for Museums has appointed the deputy directors of the Royal Palace of Naples, the National Museums of Matera and the National Museums of Bologna. These, pending the publication and completion of the procedure for the selection of new titular directors, will direct the three museum institutes and will be responsible not only for ensuring administrative continuity and ordinary management, but also for ensuring the effective implementation of existing or planned projects, with particular reference to those related to the PNRR.

At the helm of the Royal Palace of Naples will be Paola Ricciardi, MiC executive; directing the National Museums of Matera - Regional Directorate National Museums Basilicata will be Filippo Demma, director of the Archaeological Parks of Crotone and Sibari; while Costantino D’Orazio, director of the National Museums of Perugia - Regional Directorate National Museums Umbria will direct the National Museums of Bologna - Regional Directorate National Museums Emilia Romagna.

The appointments of the deputy directors follow Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli’s failure to reappoint the previous directors of the aforementioned three major museums: Paola Ricciardi replaces Mario Epifani at the Royal Palace of Naples, Filippo Demma replaces Annamaria Mauro at the National Museum of Matera, and Costantino D’Orazio replaces Maria Luisa Pacelli at the National Museums of Bologna.
