The Cathedral of St. Agatha in Catania will have new artistic lighting thanks to the contribution of Enel Green Power to further enhance the facade of the emblem of Catania’s late Baroque. This was announced by Catania Mayor Salvo Pogliese, who instructed Chief of Staff Giuseppe Ferraro to coordinate and implement a new lighting project before Feb. 5, the date on which the city’s traditional patron saint ’s day is celebrated every year.

Old generation lights will be replaced with new generation LED lights in order to enhance and bring out the lower part of the cathedral facade and the sculptural group at the top.

After the Ursino Castle, which has finally been illuminated,” he added, “it is now the turn of the Cathedral to renew its lights, effectively unbecoming as many visitors have also reported to us, in the splendid square closed to vehicular traffic and where Palazzo degli Elefanti and Palazzo dei Chierici, historic buildings that are symbols of the post-earthquake reconstruction of 1693, are located.”
