Carabinieri recover a valuable 16th century painting by Francesco del Brina

A valuable painting by Francesco del Brina (Florence, c. 1540 - 1586) has been recovered in Conegliano (Treviso), thanks to the work of the Venice Carabinieri: it is a Madonna and Child with Saints Catherine, John Gualbert and John the Baptist, which was in the collection of a private collector from Treviso. The painting, of high value (the estimate is more than one million euros), has had a particularly troubled recent history.

In 2007 it was put up for sale by an auction house, and a collector from Milan won it. Now, the carabinieri will return it to its rightful owner, while the person who had it in his custody will be charged with embezzlement.
